A massive thanks to our judges James Hewitson, Head of Wealth Management & Insurance, HSBC UK + CEO of HSBC Trust Company (UK) Ltd & Beverly Legge, Business Support Manager, HSBC UK. They were super impressed by all the entries which showed just how committed YE student companies have been to using sustainable business practices🙌. 🥇In first place @wick_d_uk from South Craven School, Cross Hills with their sustainable candles. The judges loved the product, the use of sustainable soya oil & natural materials from the UK, recyclable containers, and the team’s commitment to reduce their carbon footprint🌿. 🥈In second place is @solareofficial_ from Sir Robert Pattinson Academy, North Hykeham with their ethical and sustainable Clothing Brand. The judges were impressed by the ethical and sustainable materials, that you chose carbon neutral factories and for being part of the fair ware association🌿 . 🥉In third place is @thewoodsgroupuk from Sir Roger Manwoods School, Sandwich with handmade natural stationery and homeware. Vertex also won the Teamwork award. Best use of innovation went to Cedar of Ashcombe School and Double Denim of Hinchley Wood School won this year's sustainability award. Well done all. #YESurrey

Abante from Tormead School were this year's runners up and join Vertex in the South East regional final next month. This includes the social impact you have made. You should be able to demonstrate that your operation is:. 🌎Profitable and aims to satisfy a need. 🌎Protects the planet or wider society. 🌎Cares for all those who are involved in the production and marketing of the product/service in any way including suppliers. You should show how thinking sustainably has influenced:. 🌎Your business idea. 🌎Production, including your choice of suppliers and partners. 🌎Transport. 🌎Marketing, including educating the target audience on sustainability issues. 🌎Waste reduction and recycling. To enter upload an Instagram post using #YEsustainablebusiness20 which promotes the sustainability of your Student Company aimed at informing your target audience/customers. Please also include the name of your student company and your school/college in the caption. Only one post per student company to be entered with this hashtag.
